Natalie Mae is a photographer working in colour and black and white digital prints. She currently resides in Toronto, Ontario. She is a 20-year-old student studying for her BFA in photography at OCAD University. Natalie Mae’s practice revolves around black-and-white digital prints and recently started to work in colour. Natalie Mae mainly focuses on studio photography and using models in her work. She enjoys experimenting with shadows and also loves dramatizing her work, whether that’s with poses, facial expressions, or the lights she uses in her work to create shadows.
Natalie Mae is a student photographer studying photography at OCAD University. She is a 20-year-old woman residing in Toronto, Ontario. Her practice consists of black-and-white digital prints portraying sadness, hopelessness, and loneliness. She mainly works in the studio and only uses one to two lights at the most to get the desired effect she is looking for. Natalie has recently started to experiment with the use of coloured gels on the lights she uses to get the different colours that you can see in her first series in her portfolio. Natalie Mae also enjoys black-and-white film photography. She started her schooling learning how to do it and has loved it ever since. She mainly uses film photography in everyday life and captures the things that mean the most to her. Natalie’s love for black and white photography has stemmed from her early learning experience with black and white film and loves to experiment with it and its many different uses. Natalie has had an interesting experience with photography and it has made her a better photographer for it, although her experience isn’t extensive she has enjoyed every minute of it and is excited to see how her practice continues to improve as well as the new experiences and new way to experiment with photography.
